Christmas is coming…
As you guys know, we are close to Christmas celebration and I’d like to share with you all some of the traditions in the U.S. Check it below 🙂
Advent calendar: is a special calender used to count the days of Advent in anticipation of Christmas, often begin on December 1. The calendar windows open to reveal an image, a poem, a portion of a story (such as the story of the Nativity of Jesus), or a small gift, such as a toy or a chocolate item. So each day, usually in the mornings, there will be a little thing hidden inside a box according to that day, so if it is December 15th, the kids will open the little box of number 15.
The Elf on the Shelf: The elves are magical Santa’s helpers, right? But this tradition of having the two helpers at home started in 2004 with the book that was written, telling the story of the Elf being sent by Santa to watch over two kids. The official book Elf on a Shelf book comes with an Elf. There are two rules with the elf: You can’t touch the elf or it will lose its magic and that the elf moves when children are asleep. Parents get very creative about moving the elves around the house and thinking about funny situations.
Decorating christmas tree: Most families decorate their christmas tree together in the December 1st. It is a tradition to do that in the begin of December to make it special everyone has to assemble the christmas tree and hang a small ornament. Don’t forget the socks too. Hanging socks for the Santa is a must, and some families set a table with some cookies and milk for Santa, in case he is hungry. A curiosity about the christmas trees is that some people in the U.S. cut their own tree or buy a real one then personalize it.
December is definitely a month of good food, family together, warmth and christmas tree decorations. Don’t you agree? So, many families all around the world are preparing themselves to Christmas Eve and Christmas Day since December 1st. They decore their houses, garden, also stores, public places, the city hall, parks and the city are brighting because of the christmas lights. And you, any plans? What is the most excited part of Christmas for you?
